Portfolio and Projects

This Civil War thing is proving to be fairly addictive.  A couple weeks ago I made an 1860s cotton print day dress... nothing too elaborate, but it's the start of a proper wardrobe.

I also finally got some decent pictures of my French and Indian era outfit, and have them up with the rest here.

So, I have a new dress.  This past weekend I attended my first Civil War reenactment as a participant.  I had a lot of fun, and have come home brimming over with plans for an entire 1860's wardrobe.  I made a ball-gown for the event, basing it off an original from 1860-63 belonging to a Canadian museum.

Several months later the 1860s are still on my brain.  Due to a recent trip to Gettysburg I tackled cold-weather outerwear and made a wool paletot.

Updates

It’s been too long since I’ve updated here!  I haven’t been completely idle these last few months.  Besides several personal projects (Regency “work” dress and a Civil War silk windowpane day dress), I also spent my summer at the Virginia Shakespeare Festival as a staff stitcher.  The next update will include my work from the summer!
